The further I get into this series the more I enjoy it. After Rivers of London and Moon over Soho I went straight into the next in the Ben Aaronovitch series and was really pleased with the installment.
From really early on I was engaged as to what had happened with the murder of James Gallagher, and I didn't guess at all! From when they went into the undergroud around half way through I just could not put the book down I just had to find out what was going to happen and I loved how engaging it was, but it also got really confusing. Thats the one thing I don't get on with about his books, he gets to into the story and you find yourself reading back a few pages to understand what is going on which ruins it a little for me.
Again the history and the facts that came out through this book were amazing, its so good to learn things you never knew that you wanted to know, it is definitely one of the best things about the books and helps so much with the storyline as well which is really cleverly done.
I'm not sure whether I liked the addition of Lesley as his sidekick, I much prefer Nightingale and wish he was in the books more. And if Aaronovitch brought out a seperate Nightgale series (which he should definitely do) I would be all over that! The book ended great, I am so intrigued as to what how the Abigail storyline progresses and what was meant by the talking fox. I can't wait to dive in to Broken Homes.
Over all I enjoyed the plot, got carried away with the story and could not put the book down. It was just a little too confusing for me at times which was really disappointing.
